Mary Rose Museum
A very big thank you for your exemplary work on the Foundation Stone ceremony. I am aware of how much hard work goes into such occasions to make the event the great success that it undoubtedly was. It was a highly professional handling of a Royal visit in difficult conditions. Congratulations and many thanks. Chief Executive of the Mary Rose Trust, Rear Admiral John Lippiett

The Mary Rose Museum Project

Spring 2011

In 2012 a new museum for Henry VIIIʼs famous flagship the Mary Rose will be opened.

The new museum is being constructed around the ship - sitting on her cradle in a dry dock at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

The design of the exterior, interior and the displays has been a long and continuing process. Motivation has been commissioned by the Mary Rose Trust to film documentary coverage of the whole process. We have interviewed architects, engineers and designers and of course the staff at the existing museum.

Most recently we were also asked to advise on and provide all the audio visual support for the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone, performed by Prince Harry.

This included a large 5 metre outdoor LED screen showing live footage of the Princeʼs arrival and progress as he greeted VIPs amping the 350 invited guests.

A mobile generator provided the power and the screen and stage were all set up the evening before and final checks made in the morning. Camera positions were finalised to allow the "press-pack" good sight-lines, while also ensuring good coverage for the main screen. Media feeds were made available for sound and picture too.

While this was going on we were also filming the Prince as part of the documentary coverage, being given access to areas the press were not, acting as host media.

The day itself was unfortunately wet, but provision had been made for all the equipment to be housed under cover and for the Prince to be kept as dry as possible too obviously.

The actual laying of the foundation stone was only witnessed by a handful of VIPs, the rest viewed the action on the screen, heralded by trumpets and drums from the Royal Marines drum Corps.

Despite the inclement weather, the day was a huge success!
